Arni University (AU) was established through Act No. 23 of 2009 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. It received approval from the UGC through Notification No- F No 8-5/2010(CPP-1/PU), dated 03 Mar 2010, under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university’s primary objective is to foster interdisciplinary higher education and research in the underserved areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Situated in Kathgarh, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, Arni University is approximately 6 km from National Highway No 1A (Four Lanes Highway) and about 25 km from Pathankot City. The campus, positioned in a picturesque setting, boasts lush green surroundings, free from pollution, with a captivating view of the Beas River and the foothills of the Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges.
