Bharathidasan University, established in February 1982, pays homage to the renowned revolutionary Tamil Poet, Bharathidasan (1891-1964). The university derives its motto, “We will create a brave new world,” from Bharathidasan’s poetic verses “புதியதோர் உலகம் செய்வோம்”. Upholding this vision, the University aims to establish an innovative academic environment in the region, fostering social change.
Initially spanning over 1000 acres in Palkalaiperur, the University’s main Campus was established. Over time, the South Campus at Palkalaiperur, along with its infrastructure, was allocated to the newly formed Anna University of Technology. Subsequently, a portion of the land was recently assigned to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli. Presently, the University occupies a sprawling area of 432.42 acres.
