Established in 2001 on the eastern outskirts of Kolkata, Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK) was founded by a consortium of industrialists from the thriving information technology, electronics, and associated sectors in the region, along with prominent public figures. Spearheading HITK’s development is the Kalyan Bharti Trust. In response to the growing need for technical talent and recognizing fiscal limitations at the governmental level, the Trust complemented the state government’s initiatives to establish new engineering colleges by inaugurating Heritage Institute of Technology in September 2000.
