Established on August 15, 1990, under the Maharashtra Universities Act, XXIX of 1989, Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (formerly known as North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon), commenced its academic and administrative operations during the academic year 1991-92. Within three years, the University gained recognition under section 2 (f) in 1991 and 12 (B) in 1994, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. The University’s jurisdiction spans three districts—Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar—encompassing a predominantly tribal and rural area in the Khandesh region.
