Established on February 15, 1932, The Modern Education Society in Pune was founded to address the educational needs of the residents in the eastern part of the city of Poona. The initiative was led by its founder, Prin. V. K. Joag, along with the contributions of the Wadia brothers, Sir Cusrow Wadia, and Sir Ness Wadia.
Formally registered as an Educational Society at a meeting of its founder members at the Cowasjee Dinshaw Library Hall, The Modern Education Society has steadfastly adhered to its motto ‘For the Spread of Light.’ It has been a pioneering force in providing access to higher education in the eastern parts of Pune for the past eighty years. Presently, the Society oversees seven institutions in the vibrant cities of Pune and Mumbai.
