Established in 1995, Seth Jai Parkash Mukand Lal Institute of Engineering & Technology (JMIT) in Yamuna Nagar is affiliated with Kurukshetra University. JMIT is part of a network of twenty-two institutions spanning Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. These institutions owe their existence to the generosity of Seth Mukand Lal, a devoted follower of Gandhi Ji. Influenced by Gandhi Ji in his early twenties, Seth Mukand Lal was affectionately called “Pagle Bhagat” by Gandhi Ji. He reportedly funded the entire expenses of holding the All India Congress Sessions on the banks of the river Ravi in Lahore in 1929, during which a resolution for the complete independence of India was adopted.
