Tezpur University, a Central University situated in Tezpur, Assam, India, was established through an act of Parliament in 1994. Initially, it functioned from the Darrang College and later temporarily from Tezpur Law College premises. Subsequently, a 262-acre (106 ha) area was acquired in Napaam, a suburb located about 15 km (9.3 mi) east of Tezpur. After a few months, the university was permanently relocated to its current and permanent campus at this acquired site.
